Cub Scout Pack 127 serves the Carmel and Carmel Valley, CA area. Many of the scouts in our pack attend Carmel River Elementary or Tularcitos Elementary, but it’s not a requirement to join the pack. Our charter organization is the Carmel Valley Kiwanis Club, our local council is the Silicon Valley Monterey Bay Council, and our district is the Santa Lucia District.
Cub Scouts is the first phase of the scouting program offered by the Boy Scouts of America. Cub Scouts is for kids in kindergarten through 5th grade. The Pack, we are Pack 127, is comprised of smaller groups called Dens. The Dens are divided by the grade of the scouts, the Lion Den is for the kinders, Tiger Den is for 1st graders, the Wolf Den is for 2nd graders, the Bear Den is for 3rd graders, the Webelos 1 Den is for 4th graders, and finally the Webelos 2 Den is for 5th graders. Dens can vary in size, but a typical Den will be made up of 6-10 scouts, an Adult Den Leader, and often one or two Assistant Den Leaders.
They have FUN while engaging in activities and projects guided by the 10 Purposes of Cub Scouting which are: Character Development, Spiritual Growth, Good Citizenship, Sportsmanship and Fitness, Family Understanding, Respectful Relationships, Personal Achievements, Friendly Service, Fun and Adventure and Preparation for Boys Scouts. Everything we do as a Pack is driven by these principles.
The Pack as a whole meets once a month, and the individual Dens meet at least once a month as well. Our schedule generally follows the school year (September though May) though there are optional summer activities to take advantage of. Meetings typically last about an hour and may be comprised of indoor and outdoor activities. We are blessed to live in a beautiful area full of outdoor adventure opportunities and we like to take advantage of this with hikes, over night camping trips, bike rides, summer day camps, and much much more!
Other classic Cub Scout activities include the Pinewood Derby, the Rain Gutter Regatta, Rocket Launches, the Santa Fly-In Parade, overnight camping trips, overnight trips to museums and events, the Blue and Gold Banquet, the Carmel Valley Festival and much more! We are a FAMILY FRIENDLY pack and welcome our Scout's parents and siblings to get involved in most of our activities and adventures.
To join our Pack or just learn more about us, please feel free to contact us directly at email@example.com, attend one of our Pack Meetings and introduce yourself to any of the uniformed adult leaders, or sign up directly online by going HERE. The annual dues is $175 per scout, per year and includes a Pack t-shirt, rank manual book, earned patches and belt loops, and a yearly subscription to Boys Life magazine. We offer a $50 discount if a parent or guardian of the scout volunteers for qualifying leadership position or event task, talk to your den or pack leadership about qualifying volunteer spots. In addition, each family is responsible for providing a full Cub Scout uniform which can be purchased online or at the Scout Shop in Salinas.
We are a nonprofit organization sponsored by the Carmel Valley Kiwanis Club. We raise funds for the boy's activities through various fundraising events that exposes the boys to entrepreneurial activities and responsibilities.
